About the Author

James Bastien was born in Bellingham, Washington, on April 10, 1934. His father, Clarence, was musical and played the violin. His mother, Dorothy, was a writer and a high school Latin and journalism instructor. They performed as the duo-piano team, Smisor and Bastien. In addition, Jim was a Columbia Artist accompanist whose collaborative career included appearances with Richard Tucker and John Alexander. During this time Jim and Jane started writing music to address the needs of their students. This was the beginning of the Bastien piano books that have inspired so many piano students and teachers.The Bastien piano books have been published worldwide by the Neil A. Kjos Music Company since 1963 and are now translated into 14 languages. In 1999, The Music Teachers National Association presented Jim and Jane with the Lifetime Achievement Award, the association's highest honor, in recognition of their outstanding career in music and contribution to the music profession.James W. Bastien, loving husband and father, and a passionate piano pedagogue and musician, passed away on December 7, 2005, in La Jolla, California. During his long career, Jim became internationally known through his contributions to piano teaching, composing, writing, adjudication, and performing. With more than 300 publications to his credit, the Bastien name has become synonymous with innovative piano pedagogy.

Easy to learn piano.

I bought these books to continue in the series that I started in a college class but was unable to continue to attend. These are pretty good and easy to read/understand. No baby nonsense and nothing too complicated. So far I have nothing contrary to say about these books. I have lots of beginner books and these dont stand out as particulary great or bad, but if you are considering buying them for their intended use, I doubt you will be diappointed OR thrilled.

I have read this book previously but with the movie coming to the United States at some point (soon I hope) I wanted to reread it. Since all of my books (yes I own the series) are in storage I decided I would buy the audio book. I wound up buying the entire series in audio book format for less than $10 and wound up with an ARC copy of Torment (book 2) as well.Needless to say I got into this book remembering the general story line and character names but that's about it. It was like reading the book for the first time and I loved it. I instantly fell back in love with the story and the characters.There is a lot happening in this book and somehow it all flows really well and forms a great story. I enjoy Lauren's writing style as well. Now the narrator. I enjoyed the way Justine told this story. I feel like the narration was lacking something. I feel like maybe dual narration (male and female) would have been better. But Justine did a great job in making sure you could tell who was talking.I look forward to continuing my reread of this series. It's been so long since I read the series that it will be like reading the series for the first time again.4.5 stars

It's was mildly intriguing, as I'm an adult I feel my teenage self would enjoyed this immensely. I only give this 3 stars as this book included an excerpt from one of Lauen Kate's books which included epilogue, of course I started to read it and then thought "wait a minute how did that happen to the characters I just read about in Fallen"? Only to discover it was the 5th book in the Fallen series! Major spoiler! Why read the other 3? Really annoying they don't warn if you read this excerpt major spoilers ahead! Kinda bummed, wanted to stick with it but now moving on.

So I basically biught this book a long time ago, started reading it but couldn't really get into it so I stopped reading, wikipedia the whole book summary and said that was that. Then last week on amazon video, saw there was a movie! Watches the preview and loved it! BOUGHT the movie and LOVED it even more! So I decided to give the book series another try. (It took me 3 reading tried to get into the Immortal instruments at first too and now I love the entire series!) But I gotta say, this is the ONLY time I'll admit the movie was BETTER than the book! As I read this book, the writing really isn't the best. There's ALOT of mental dialog from the main character, the story itself is confusing: what the heck is going on? I'm just so confused! I don't feel like the love relationship between the two main characters is truly felt, more like forced. The movie got that chemistry better!I'm gonna give the second book a try but if not, I'm done with this series!

Typical teenage angst with a supernatural twist. Mysterious build up in the beginning, but conclusion is short changed at the end. The ending was written in one chapter. The book would have been better if it was longer and had fleshed out the secrets and the conclusion, instead of leaving the reader hanging. A reform school for fallen angels, who happen to be cranky, disturbed teenagers? The main character, Luce, was not well developed. Give us a reason why she was sent there, instead of vague sentences. I was rather disappointed.

The story keeps you turning the page, wondering if your suspicion is right and being surprised at the depth to which you're right in small way yet so much more is there. The thought of a love so strong and pure is always something to read about and know you're not the only one dreaming about it. The plot is more than you can see coming and I am super excited to continue the storyline in the next book!! Recommend to anyone who loves a good love story and intrigue and friendships with the bonus of the supernatural element

This mat be a somewhat confussing reveiew but that is because I am going to be completely honest. At first, I bought this book at the same time I had bought Hush by Rebecca Fitzpatrick. Hush was the same genre (fallen angels YA. I read Hush first and absolutely fell in love with it, so naturally I couldnt help but get excitted for Fallen, especially given how beautiful the cover was.The first half of the book wasn't really good, didnt hold my intrest and nothing made sense. So, being annoyed like I was, I sold the book on ebay and never finished it. A year later (This month exactly) I saw the new book come out and read the inside cover. It was then that I realized that it sounded good and had nothing to do with what I remembered, which was beacuse I didnt finish it. Needless to say, i bought the book again. This time I used a little more patience and made myself finish it. Once I got half way through the book, it started getting fantastic. Everything suddenly began to make sense and I was extremely excitted to finish the book. When I finished the book, I realized that though it started out very rough and very boring, in the end it was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. I enjoyed it so much that I went out and paid full price for the new and still in hardcover book, Torment. And, in the end I am nort ashamed that I bought the book Fallen twice, though I am ashmed of the fact that I couldnt bring myself to give it a chance to get good. I adore the book and in the end loved Torment even more. Now, it sits in my Library of favorite books with my Twilight Series and Hush & crescendio series. Also, I feel I must say that though I am an adult and almost going on thirty, I loved this book no matter who it was generaterd for. The only diffrence between an Adult and a Yong Adult book, is that the authors dont have the sex to fall back on, they have to be seriously creative to make a romance story like this one, without going over board in the romance department. Think about and you'll see it makes sense.

The book is artful and simple. It’s an easy read as well as engrossing. This book has fed the small obsession of angels I have and leaves me wanting to know what’s next. I was able to stop reading and come back without feeling desperate which is preferred rather feeling the need to be overly engrossed by a book. I highly recommend for those looking for a simple love story with angels mixed in.

Enda Walsh is a multi-award-winning Irish playwright. He lives in London. His work has been translated into over twenty languages and has been performed internationally since 1998. His recent plays include Ballyturk and Room 303 at the 2014 Galway International Arts Festival; Misterman, presented by Landmark Productions and Galway International Arts Festival in Ireland, London and New York (2011–2012); and several plays for Druid Theatre Company, including Penelope, which has been presented in Ireland, America and London, from 2010–2011, The New Electric Ballroom, which played Ireland, Australia, Edinburgh, London, New York and LA from 2008–2009, and The Walworth Farce, which played Ireland, Edinburgh, London and New York, as well as an American and Australian tour, from 2007–2010. He won a Tony Award in 2012 for writing the book for the musical Once, seen on Broadway, in the West End and on a US tour. His other plays include Delirium (Theatre O/Barbican), which played Dublin and a British tour in 2008; Chatroom (National Theatre), which played at the National Theatre and on tour in Britain and Asia (2006–2007); and The Small Things (Paines Plough), which played London and Ireland (2005). His early plays include Bedbound (Dublin Theatre Festival) and Disco Pigs (Corcadorca).
